CONTEXTUAL  FIT

PURPOSE:

The Smith family has hired me to design an addition to their house on the shore of long island sound. The owner requested explicitly that the original design's integrity be respected, yet the new addition should have its presence .

NARRATIVE:

The smith family has freshly acquired a house and requested me to modify their new home. They plan to have a very broad space concept with each room. My job is to develop a design that keeps Meier's design integrity and satisfies the family's request. The family appreciates the house's authenticity and doesn't want to modify the house but add an extension. The smith family is looking forward to living in a home where there is harmony and rest their minds.  
They view the family room as the core of their new home and having a deck to watch the sunset is essential to them.
